This is being done with a focus on the workforce positions before the pandemic happened. It has been reported in the past that over 36,000 nurses who worked in the job sector decreased by over 30% and this is shocking when you compare it to the year before.

The Scottish branch of Unison have warned that they have really been left with no choice but to try and consult members on the action over pay. The Union are now lobbying the government to see if they can take action of the reopening clause. This has been written into the three-year deal and it basically grants NHS staff some degree of uplift in the year 2020. At the end of the day, they are incredibly happy that the NHS workers are being praised and they are also glad that warm words are being given but they cannot back them up at the end of the day.

If you are well-versed in homecare or if you currently have a job in private nursing then you will know how important it is to make sure that staff are given the support they need. If staff are not supported then this means that they cannot do their job properly and it is usually the patients who need up suffering. The RCN are now calling on the UK government to see if they can urgently look at the shortage of nurses in the industry right now.

The Covid-19 pandemic really has highlighted and boosted the pressure that nursing staff are under. It doesn’t matter whether they work in care homes, in the community or even across the wider healthcare industry because at the end of the day, the entire sector is struggling.
Nursing is a critical industry and staff have had to be redeployed or even stopped from progressing with their studies as well. Right now, the staffing situation is somewhat untenable with the profession facing major shortages right now. In fact, some believe that there are going to be well over 50,000 shortages in the NHS when you look at the UK alone. There are fears over stress, patient complexity and even safety, not to mention that the amount of staff members who have had to take breaks has worsened even more.

Unless the government in the UK are able to act right now, there is a major risk of the health and the wellbeing of those who are part of the industry. Those who are contributing their lives to care are also going to end up being harmed as well and this is going to really harm everyone involved.

The RCN are calling upon the government to see if they can invest in the training of nurses and to find out if they can try and give more support to those who need it.

She has followed senior nursing posts and she has been absolutely instrumental when it comes to making sure that the RCN hears the voice of everyone who works in the industry.
Dame Donna Kinnair who is the RCN Chief Executive has stated that Theresa really is influential when it comes to advice and support. Her passion for nursing and her dedication overall has really come through and she has remarkable leadership abilities too. It’s also important to take into account her sense of vision. This has made a huge difference and it shows how much the organisation have benefitted from her leadership.

When you look at Scotland, you will soon see that she has radically transformed the RCN’s work and that she is very influential too. She has benefitted the general public and her work is essential to the industry overall. She has worked there for well over 14 remarkable years and some say that she has left quite a legacy behind too. She has contributed so much and she will certainly go down in history.

The RCN are calling for a long-term plan to try and support those who work in the industry of private nursing or even homecare. The Public Accounts Committee have released a statement saying that the department do not currently understand the nursing needs that the NHS has. Even before the pandemic, thousands of nurses left the profession every single year and that evidence has shown that there are worrying signs of stress and even burnout too. This is happening amongst nursing staff since the outbreak. Dame Donna Kinnair, who happens to be the RCN Chief Executive has stated that they share the view that the long-term plan for the nursing workforce in the UK and that they also support the recommendations that have been made for national plans as well. They want to try and increase the recruitment and the retention as much as possible.

Students, at the end of the day, shouldn’t have to pay fees. Their maintenance money should genuinely reflect the expense that they are having to face through studying. The government need to try and oversupply for years of not investing if they want to have any hopes of not meeting the demand. Failure to take any kind of action on the recommendation is going to drive more and more people away from a nursing career and this is going to leave even more patients without the care that they need.

Studies have shown that 36% of respondents are now thinking about leaving the profession this year and half of them are citing pay as being a prime factor. This is awful to say the least, but it just goes to show that the industry is needing more support, and that people need to make sure that they are banding together.

The RCN are now calling for many more urgent measures to be taken to try and make sure that the strain on nurses is reduced and that midwifery staff face every single day. The comments were made in the response to a brand-new report that was produced by the Courage of Compassion. The report has stated that the new minimum standards are going to boost working conditions and that the idea of having 12-hour shifts is just not good enough anymore.

The Courage of Compassion also actively highlights the fact that absenteeism and turnover in the profession has now reached an alarmingly high level. This has been compounded by the current pandemic. If you have any experience in homecare or in private nursing then you will know how debilitating it can be to experience all of this.

Susan Masters, who is the RCN director of nursing has released a statement saying that safe staffing and pay are all key priorities when it comes to the wellbeing of the staff and that this is something that needs to be more campaigned on. In this day and age, there are over 50,000 registered nurse vacancies in the NHS and this is why it is so important to look at factors such as morale, patient safety and even general wellbeing too.

Right now, everyone is really ambitious but at then end of the day, well-qualified people are now struggling with the shifts and even the poor pay too. They feel like they don’t have a choice but to leave the career they are in just so that they can leave at a reasonable hour and this is not good to say the least. Only time will tell what’s going to happen in the future but right now things aren’t looking good.
