Reward and Pay in the NHS needs to be Taken Seriously

More than £50 billion is spent to try and pay the bill for the NHS’ 1.2 million staff. It’s the biggest single cost when it comes to healthcare and it is also one of the biggest in which all of the costs are contained too. Unless a new pay deal is agreed, the NHS roles are now going to be capped and this is going to result in real-term value. The nursing salary is going to be decreased by over 10% and this is going to impact the industry to say the least.

Of course, pay is not the only reason why people choose to make a career for themselves in the NHS. It’s also not the reason why people leave either. That being said, it does have an impact on the overall experience that staff seem to have. Staff were very satisfied when they found out that their level of pay was being dropped by 31% and this is the lowest that it has been in the last 10 years.
The brand-new pay deal is hoping to welcome an increase in staff salaries and it is also hoping to improve recruitment too. This is interesting if you work in private nursing or even in homecare. It is important to know that with inflation, pay needs to keep up and it should not be overtaken at all.

There are opportunities out there for people to be flexible and it also helps them to be targeted as well. There are a huge range of pay measures being taken right now and they also need to address shortages. The more this is done, the more hope there will be in the industry and the more support we can then give people as a result.
