Hancock is Vowing to Ban any Gagging Orders for Whistle-blowers

Matt Hancock has vowed to try and banish the use of NDAS in the NHS. This could be a major movement to say the least. Hancock has since released a statement saying that he wants the NHS to feel as though they can really put their head ahead of the parapet and he also believes that the government stands with whistle blowers too.

Hancock believes that making someone choose between the job that they love, and telling the truth should never be something that people have to do. He also went on to say that speaking the truth is very important to do and that whistle-blowers are able to provide a courageous service for the NHS. They believe that they need to have an open culture plan and that they also need to try and achieve the ambitions that they have set out in the plan that they have. They also want to work to try and make the NHS the safest healthcare system around.

Last year, doctors and even MPs have lead calls to try and help people with the whistleblowing legislation that they have and they also believe that it is very outdated too. The gagging orders have come under a lot of criticism over the years and that this is being done across a huge range of sectors. It has been emerged last week that a lot of universities have spent over £90m in pay-offs that are all to do with NDAS. These have all been attached in the last two years alone and if something is not done about this then this could spell bad news in the future.

In March, the government have announced that there are incredibly tough legal measures that are going to try and prevent employers from reaching any kind of confidentially agreement. Of course, if something is not done soon then even worse things may happen. Those who work in private nursing or even homecare will know this more than anyone.
