Are you an experienced and compassionate Band 4 Complex Care Support Worker with infant or paediatric experience looking for flexible waking night work that fits around your lifestyle?
Nursing Direct is currently recruiting dedicated Paediatric Complex Care Support Workers to provide high-quality support to children and young people with complex healthcare needs in the Walton-on-Thames area.
This role offers the opportunity to work waking night shifts within a family home, supporting a child with complex care needs while promoting their comfort, safety, wellbeing, and quality of life through person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
As a Paediatric Complex Care Support Worker, you will:
Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people with complex healthcare needs
Provide continuous support and monitoring throughout waking night shifts
Assist with personal care, repositioning, and maintaining comfort overnight
Support with feeding and hydration requirements in line with care plans
Monitor and report any changes in the child's condition, health, or wellbeing
Assist with medication administration in accordance with training, competency, and care plans
Support with clinical care tasks appropriate to your training and experience
Maintain accurate care records and documentation
Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and clinical protocols
Communicate effectively with families, nurses, case managers, and the wider multidisciplinary team
Ensure the child's dignity, privacy, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:
Previous experience working as a Complex Care Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Carer, or Support Worker within a paediatric, infant, or children's care setting
Experience supporting children or young people with complex healthcare needs
Experience providing personal care
A caring, compassionate, and professional approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and use initiative within a family home environment
A flexible and reliable attitude
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional healthcare needs
Availability and willingness to undertake regular waking night shifts
Desirable Experience
The following skills and experience would be advantageous:
Experience supporting infants and children with complex medical conditions
Community-based complex care experience
PEG feeding experience
Tracheostomy care experience
Suctioning experience
Oxygen therapy experience
Experience working alongside families and multidisciplinary teams
