Are you an experienced and compassionate Children's Support Worker looking for flexible and rewarding work that fits around your lifestyle?
Nursing Direct is currently recruiting dedicated Children's Support Workers to provide high-quality support to children and young people with a range of care and support needs across Westminster and the wider West London area.
This community-based role involves supporting children and young people in their homes and local communities, helping them develop independence, build confidence, access activities, and achieve positive outcomes in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Children's Support Worker, you will:
Provide high-quality, person-centred support to children and young people in their homes and local communities
Build positive, professional relationships with children, young people, and their families
Support children to engage in social, educational, recreational, and community activities
Promote independence, life skills, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
Assist with personal care where required and appropriate to the individual's needs
Support with daily routines, appointments, and community access
Encourage positive behaviour and provide consistent emotional support
Monitor and report any changes in a child's wellbeing or support needs
Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with organisational requirements
Follow care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and professional boundaries at all times
Work collaboratively with families, schools, healthcare professionals, and other agencies involved in the child's care
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:
Previous experience working with children and young people in a care, support, education, health, or community setting
A good understanding of safeguarding children and promoting their welfare
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A caring, patient, and empathetic approach
The ability to build trusting relationships with children and families
The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
A flexible and reliable attitude
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience supporting children with additional needs, disabilities, learning difficulties, or complex care requirements
Experience working within community-based support services
Knowledge of child-centred care and positive behaviour support approaches
Additional language skills and cultural awareness are highly desirable, as some referrals may benefit from cultural or language matching to support effective communication and engagement with children and families
