The meeting was held on the 15th of September and this was done between Scotland’s own health secretary and Unison. The union believes that progress had been made but now everything has broken down, it would appear that things are not looking as good as they once did. The Union are claiming that this never happened. Union Scotland have announced a few plans this week and they are going to hold a ballot for NHS members too. They are doing this to try and combat the industrial action that is being taken. They are very happy to give support to NHS workers and they are offering some warm words in terms of pay but it would seem that they are not able to put their hands in their pockets to try and help NHS workers. The last thing that people want is for there to be problems but at the end of the day, if more is not done to try and help the workers then things are going to go downhill.
Unison Scotland are Now Considering Industrial Action
The Scottish branch of Unison have warned that they have really been left with no choice but to try and consult members on the action over pay. The Union are now lobbying the government to see if they can take action of the reopening clause. This has been written into the three-year deal and it basically grants NHS staff some degree of uplift in the year 2020. If you work in the industry of private nursing or if you work in the sector of homecare then you will know what a huge deal this is in general. At the end of the day, they are incredibly happy that the NHS workers are being praised and they are also glad that warm words are being given but they cannot back them up at the end of the day.
