MPs are now calling for a much broader national health plan and this is going to be put in place by the year 2022. That is going to try and fix the adverse NHS backlog and it is also going to encompass emergency care. Primary care is going to be impacted and if you work in homecare, private nursing or with social workers you should be aware of this too. Bespoke care packages for mental health may also be affected, purely because of the NHS waiting list. Over time, MPS have found that the government are refusing to try and look at the independent workforce numbers. They believe that they can pull things back without even finding out if enough doctors or nurses are being trained. During the enquiry, they also found that a lot of the time, workforce shortages were one of the key and most limiting factors when you look at the success of dealing with the backlog.
They have also been warned against overlooking social care. They have heard about how a robust care system can easily support hospital charges and that it is a very good way of freeing up capacity. It is essential if they ever want to clear the backlog that is present, at the end of the day. Social care has not received enough settlement when you look at the spending review and the billions of pounds that have been invested fall short when you look at the amount of money that has been recommended over time. This is very shocking, to say the least but there are hopes that things can be turned around and that more positivity will come from all of this oversight.
