If you used to work in homecare jobs or carer jobs then you’ll understand how stressful the position can be, but the government is now coming forward and they have opted to give £2bn to the system in an attempt to rectify this.
The social care system applies to those who are over the age of 18 and the system is said to be struggling due to the increasing need for adult care. Those who are given care in their own homes or even nursing homes are now facing a shortage of staff and the level of care is also deteriorating as well. Sue Gregory, who has been a nurse now for over 13 years believes that staff shortages are making her job even harder. She believes that you can’t provide a constant level of care if you are constantly having to hire new people. She has been a nurse for well over 13 years and she operates in North Yorkshire. She believes that people do not want to do this kind of work, and that in this profession, there is a strong desire when it comes to getting the people the care that they need.
One in four social care workers are also dealing with a zero hours contract as well, and this puts even more pressure on those who work in the industry. People are leaving because they are not getting the hours that they want and this is leaving them with a huge level of financial insecurity.
