Birmingham Hospital now Has a £320m Cap

The NHS trust, which is behind the Midland Metropolitan Hospital has now been hit by the collapse of Carillion. They have launched a trust to try and find a centre that is going to replace their contractor and they have also put a cap on any bids to try and get the hospital finished. Sandwell and West Birmingham have published a contract notice that calls on any provisional contractors to try and register their interest in taking over the project. They have also pledged that they will share any cost savings.

This is great as it will also hopefully open up jobs for those who work in private nursing or even in homecare. The Midland hospital were with a number of delays and they also hit with some restrictions on the contract as well. They also saw the collapse of Carillion which halted their progress. The NHS were then forced to implement some kind of contingency plan. They have to do this at 14 hospitals to try and keep any essential services running. This left the trust millions out of pocket.

Nowadays the firms have been formally invited to try and apply up to the 6th of February. The build is half-finished, and the trust hopes to narrow their choice down to three contractors, before choosing one to finish the job. The main bulk of the construction work is said to be done in October and the project is going to be finished by the year 2021.

The trust have admitted that so far, they have found it hard to find someone to get the job done and they have faced a lot of difficulty on the way. Hopefully there are good times ahead, and they find someone who can get them to where they need to be.
