The Nuffield Trust have come out to say that the publicly funded social care system for older adults is now failing. They have said that for older adults, that the publicly funded care is required. Emma Dodsworth and Laura Shlepper are amongst a series of statistics and a lot of them are being taken from a lot of other pieces of research. The older population has increased quite a lot and it is safe to say that a lot of them now require home care. That being said, there is not enough funding at all to try and support this. The amount of older people who are now living at home has fallen over the years and this does indicate that more has to be done. If you work in homecare or if you work in the sector of private nursing, then you will understand this more than anyone. If you provide bespoke care packages in private nursing or if you offer mental health support to social workers, then this will be of special interest to you. The amount of older population who live at home and who need help has fallen over time and it looks like a lot of this is due to better health and living standards. This means that people can now live on their own for longer periods of time and this is great to say the least. Studies have found that half of people who are over the age of 65 need one carer or some kind of support from family. On top of this, more has to be done to try and make sure that the sector does not fail in terms of lack of funding. Follow this story if you want to find out more.
