The Disability Support Service Closing will Have a Devastating Impact
If you know that you work in private nursing, homecare or if you offer bespoke care packages then you will know that the disruption of care services is going to have a huge impact on things as we know it. It is going to affect social workers as well as those who experience mental health difficulties and more. Closure of support services is going to affect those who are vulnerable the most. Right now it would seem that staff who work in Sheffield Care register are about to lose their job after the announcement that has been made. UNISON have said time and time again that the staff are yet to explain the reason for the closure that has been planned. A council report has ben looking into the service and they have also increased the general take-up of these screenings. A third of those who have learning disabilities during the NHS England Trial were impacted and this is not good to say the least. The report has suggested that the people who help the register have since been able to access the health services they need, but the sad reality is that they wouldn’t have known about them otherwise. Julie Marsland who is the assistant branch secretary has said that it is not yet clear what the rationale is but at the end of the day, helping people is a priority and more has to be done to try and make sure that people are getting the general support that they need. Of course, the disability service is now closing and this is going to have a monumental impact on people across the UK and already the negative impacts are starting to show.
