Care Homes Say They Won’t Accept New Restrictions

Half of the care homes have chosen to open their doors to any new residents and two out of three care homes are also turning down requests for home care. This is a lot to do with the staff shortages that are being caused by the pandemic. The mandatory vaccine is also having a huge impact. If you work in homecare or if you need to seek out bespoke care packages then you should know that these services are currently being impacted the most. Private nursing is also being affected, and social workers are having an incredibly hard time trying to make sure that people can access the mental health support they need.

Thousands of people who work in the care industry have been forced to leave their jobs as they refused to take the Covid vaccine that was made mandatory. A lot of staff are isolated as the result of Covid as well and this is leading to an immense struggle. People are finding it hard to cope with the shortages that are present and this is not putting the industry in a good position. 43% of people who work in a care home are now closing their doors to new residents and it would seem that 66% of people are also refusing any requests for things such as home care. Studies have also shown that 21% of home care providers are now handing back care packages too. This is not good, to say the least and it just goes to show how difficult things are right now.

Of course, things may change but right now it would seem that there is more that needs to be done to try and ensure that care homes are being given the support that they need to fulfil their jobs properly.
