Nursing Direct is seeking compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Complex Care Assistants with paediatric experience to provide specialist care for children and young people with complex health needs in their own homes across North London.
As a Complex Care Assistant, you will support children living with a range of complex conditions, including neurological disorders, spinal injuries, genetic or congenital conditions, acquired brain injuries, and long-term health needs. You will work closely with families and clinical teams to deliver safe, person-centred care that promotes the child’s safety, comfort, and well-being.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex care needs in community or homecare settings
- Experience or training in areas such as tracheostomy care, gastrostomy feeding, ventilator support, or seizure management (as required)
- A patient, kind, and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to providing family-centred care
- Ability to follow care plans and work as part of a wider care team
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting with clinical tasks such as tracheostomy care, gastrostomy feeds, medication administration, and monitoring under supervision and guidance
- Providing personal care in a respectful, dignified manner (including washing, dressing, and continence care)
- Supporting the child’s daily routines, activities, and developmental needs
- Promoting the child’s comfort, safety, and emotional well-being at all times
- Accurately documenting care provided and reporting any changes in the child’s condition
- Supporting positive interaction and communication with the child and their family
