Description

Nursing Direct is a specialist homecare provider offering bespoke care and support to adults and children within their own homes.

We are currently seeking a young, energetic, and engaging female Healthcare Assistant to support a 17-year-old female client in the Polegate/ Eastbourne area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference, building a strong rapport, and encouraging independence in a young person with complex needs.

About the role:

You will provide one-to-one care and support for a young client who has:

  • An eating disorder
  • Autism
  • A history of self-harm
  • Partial sight, motor weakness, and balance issues
  • An awareness is required of managing epilepsy

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the client to access the community and take part in meaningful activities such as shopping in Brighton, coffee trips, visits to the beach, Upside Down House, woodland walks, the Bluebell Walk in Arlington, the Sea Life Centre, the Cuckoo Trail, and Brighton Marina.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in social settings
  • Providing support at weekly eating disorder (ED) appointments
  • Assisting with mobility where needed
  • Driving the client to appointments and outings (own vehicle required)

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting young people with eating disorders, autism, and self-harm behaviours
  • Awareness of epilepsy care
  • Experience working with individuals who are partially sighted and/or have motor weakness or balance challenges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with and motivate the client
  • Compassionate, reliable, and patient
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential)
  • Clear Enhanced DBS (on Update Service or willing to obtain)
  • SOVA/SOCA training
  • Adult CPR/BLS certification
  • Living within a commutable distance to Polegate / Eastbourne
