The Committee has Stated that They Want to Raise the Status of Social Care

Action really does need to be taken regarding the status of social care workers. Employees need to see the sector as a very attractive career that has been paid adequately. This is one of the recommendations that have been made by the Welsh politicians and this is after they expressed concern over how fragile the independent care sector is. The report essentially says that the cost for caring for an ageing population is hard work and the work needs to be absolutely on par. Those who work in homecare jobs and even private nursing jobs will know this more than anyone.

It has been encouraged that the Welsh government should be doing everything they can to identifying social care as a strong priority. The committee have stated that they are trying to do everything they can to try and attract employees and that they are also trying to provide cross-member assemblies with the support that they need at the same time. It’s safe to say that there has been a good amount of compelling evidence to try and support this and there has also been a 73-page document to show that there are concerns about the low pay. The social status is very unattractive to the current staff team and this is especially the case when you see that they are able to earn way more positions in the retail sector. There are things that you can do to try and change this but only time will tell if this is the case or not. That being said, so many people are trying to offer as much support as they can, it’s now a case of whether they are the right people to force any kind of positive change.
